HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck in Kuwait

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, representing the heartfelt sentiments of His Majesty The King and the people of Bhutan, arrived in Kuwait as an envoy to convey condolences on the passing of the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In a solemn ceremony held at the Bayan Palace, His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, warmly received Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck. The Bhutanese envoy not only expressed condolences but also extended felicitations to His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for assuming the crucial responsibilities as the new Amir of the State of Kuwait.

The visit underscored the deep ties between Bhutan and Kuwait, as Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck conveyed condolences not only to the late Amir’s family but also to senior Sheikhs, including His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Accompanying the Bhutanese royal envoy were distinguished officials, including the former Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho (Dr.) Lotay Tshering, reflecting the significance attached to the diplomatic mission.

The late Amir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 86, left behind a legacy of leadership and service to Kuwait. In a swift transition, the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, assumed the role of Amir on the same day, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Kuwait’s history.

As nations mourn the loss of a revered leader, the visit of Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck serves as a testament to the enduring bonds of sympathy and solidarity that connect countries during times of sorrow.
