His Majesty the King made a significant visit to the Khotokha Gyalsung Academy on Saturday, marking a key milestone ahead of the upcoming launch of Bhutan’s National Service program, Gyalsung.
Khotokha Gyalsung Academy is one of four premier institutions dedicated to the Gyalsung initiative, which is poised to commence next month. This visit was crucial as it allowed His Majesty to review the final preparations for the inaugural group of Gyalsars—youth selected to participate in this transformative program.
During the visit, His Majesty toured the extensive grounds of the Academy, which feature cutting-edge construction and infrastructure designed to support the educational and developmental needs of Bhutan’s young participants. The Academy will serve as a cornerstone for the Gyalsung program, which aims to enhance the capabilities and resilience of Bhutanese youth.
Accompanied by the Prime Minister, the Chief Operations Officer of the Armed Forces, and senior government officials, His Majesty underscored the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of the Gyalsars throughout their time at the Academy. This emphasis on safety and care reflects the program’s commitment to nurturing and empowering Bhutan’s future leaders.
Gyalsung, introduced on National Day in 2019, represents Bhutan’s ambitious national service program, designed to equip young Bhutanese with essential skills and experiences that will enable them to excel both within the country and globally. The program is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of leaders and professionals.
The visit by His Majesty the King highlights the government’s dedication to preparing the Gyalsung Academy to deliver on its promise of fostering skilled and capable youth, ensuring that Bhutan’s future remains bright and resilient.
