Sacred Spaces, Skilled Hands

Dear Editor,

The recent initiative by the Central Monastic Body to train monks in basic plumbing is both timely and commendable. In remote monasteries, reliance on external help for minor repairs has long caused delays and unnecessary costs.

By equipping monks and nuns with practical skills, this programme promotes self-reliance, resource conservation, and efficiency. It is encouraging to see participants gain confidence in maintaining essential water systems.

Such efforts reflect a progressive blend of tradition and modern needs. Expanding this training to other regions will further strengthen communities and ensure sustainable management of vital resources across monastic institutions.

Sincerely,
Tenzin Dorji
