Their Majesties joined government leaders and members of the Nepali community in a solemn prayer ceremony in Thimphu, paying tribute to those affected by the devastating flash floods in Nepal and China.
His Majesty The King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Her Majesty The Queen and other Members of the Royal Family lit 1,000 butter lamps at the Grand Kuenrey of Tashichhodzong, offering prayers for the victims of the disaster.
The ceremony remembered those who lost their lives in the floods and offered prayers for people who remain missing. Prayers were also dedicated to the bereaved families and communities coping with the aftermath of the tragedy.
The Prime Minister and senior government leaders attended the ceremony alongside Nepali citizens working and residing in Bhutan.
The gathering reflected Bhutan’s solidarity with the people affected by the floods, bringing together the Royal Family, government representatives and the Nepali community in a collective expression of remembrance, compassion and support during a time of loss.
