Bhutanese students pursuing their education in India have an opportunity to receive financial support through the Ambassador’s Scholarship for the academic year 2026–27, with the Embassy of India in Thimphu inviting applications from eligible candidates.
The scholarship is open to self-financing Bhutanese students studying at schools, colleges and universities in India, as well as those undertaking vocational courses or Buddhist studies.
For students and families meeting the cost of education independently, the scholarship can provide valuable financial assistance towards their studies and help ease some of the expenses associated with pursuing education away from home. It also makes the opportunity relevant to students across a broad range of educational pathways — from conventional academic programmes to vocational education and Buddhist studies.
India remains an important destination for Bhutanese students seeking higher education and specialised training, and initiatives such as the Ambassador’s Scholarship can help make these opportunities more accessible to students who are already enrolled on a self-financing basis.
Eligible students are therefore encouraged to review the requirements and prepare their applications ahead of the deadline. The last date for submission is 14 October 2026.
Further information on eligibility, required documents and the application process is available from the Embassy of India in Thimphu.
