New infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening monastic education and religious institutions were launched in Trashigang on Sunday, with facilities at two shedras receiving support under a Government of India-funded programme.
The Dratshang Lhentshog Secretariat, in collaboration with Trashigang Rabdhey, organised ceremonies at Kanglung Dringrim Shedra and Kanglung Thogrim Shedra as part of ongoing efforts to improve facilities available to monastic communities in the region.
At Kanglung Dringrim Shedra, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a two-storey classroom facility. The proposed infrastructure is expected to expand the space available for monastic education and provide improved facilities for students and teachers.
A separate ceremony at Kanglung Thogrim Shedra marked the inauguration of the Debri installation, adding to the institution’s infrastructure for religious and spiritual activities.
Captain Shaurya Ahlawat, representing DANTAK, attended the ceremonies. His participation highlighted the cooperation among the institutions involved in implementing the development initiatives.
The projects have received financial assistance from the Government of India under the Religious Activities Programme of the Dratshang Lhentshog. The programme supports the development and improvement of infrastructure associated with Bhutan’s religious and monastic institutions.
The latest projects are expected to contribute to better facilities for monastic learning and spiritual practice in Trashigang, while supporting the preservation and continuity of the region’s religious institutions.
The Dratshang Lhentshog Secretariat acknowledged the role of Trashigang Rabdhey, DANTAK, local monastic institutions, community representatives, local leaders and other stakeholders involved in the projects.
