Confronting Bhutan’s Silent Health Crisis

I am writing to express my concern regarding the growing challenge of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Bhutan. Unlike infectious diseases, which tend to appear in waves, conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension silently inflict lifelong burdens on our communities. These diseases not only claim lives but also place an ongoing strain on families who must navigate continuous care and management.

It is crucial that we raise awareness and mobilize both resources and preventive measures to address these serious health challenges. A collective effort from the government, healthcare providers, and the public is needed to implement strategies that mitigate the long-term impacts of NCDs in our society.
