Their Majesties visited the Biman Rataya Throne Room at the Grand Palace, where the funeral rites are being held, and offered a wreath before the Royal Funeral Urn of the late Princess.

They later joined His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Her Majesty The Queen of Thailand and members of the Thai Royal Family at a royal merit-making ceremony conducted on the seventh day following the Princess’s passing.

The ceremony, known as Sattamvara, is observed in accordance with Thai royal traditions and Buddhist practices. It is held to dedicate merit and pay tribute to a deceased member of the Royal Family on the seventh day after death.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, passed away on June 11. Thailand is currently observing a period of national mourning.

Following the ceremony, Their Majesties also paid respects before the Royal Funeral Urn of Her Majesty the late Queen Mother of Thailand.

The visit underscores the close bonds of friendship and goodwill between Bhutan and Thailand, rooted in shared Buddhist heritage, longstanding royal ties and warm people-to-people relations.
