In Samdrup Jongkhar, only one nominee was eliminated during the National Council’s Dhamngoi Zomdu which concluded today. Out of the district’s 7 nominees, 6 of them made it through.
Gomdar Gewog selected 37-year-old Tshewang Rinchen as their candidate. He was the lone candidate from the Gewog and secured 326 votes from a total of 363 votes.
Meanwhile in Langchenphu Gewog, 49-year-old Ran Bahadur Biswa secured 272 Yes votes and 35 Nos to confirm his nomination for the National Council election.
Similarly, 39-year-old Tempa Gyaltshen from will represent Lauri Gewog. He got 235 Yes votes and 33 No votes.
Matshala Gewog had two nominees. 49-year old Tshering Norbu was nominated with 491 votes, securing the candidature ahead of Ugyen Dorji by 28 votes.
47-year-old Tshering Choeda is the National Council candidate of Pemathang Gewog. He amassed 313 votes from 383 voters that came for the nomination round.
From Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde, 59-year-old Karma Tshering Wangchuk will sit for the election. With 129 Yes votes from 139 voters, his nomination was confirmed.
Samdrup Jongkhar has 11 Gewogs and one Dzongkhag Thromde. It has about 28,000 eligible voters.
