National Day Lucky Draw made more exciting this year

There’s less than a week to go for the 116th National Day. And with the anticipated day drawing closer, there’s more good news. The National Day Lucky Draw has also had a facelift and has been made better than before. The 116th National Day will have not one, but three types of lucky draws.

One of the lucky draws is designed exclusively for those who attend the celebrations at the Changlimithang Stadium. Those coming to the stadium will receive their lucky draw tickets through the Bhutan App when they scan for entry into the stadium.

Similarly, in the second category, a nationwide lucky draw will be conducted, offering equally exciting prizes to participants. Anyone in the country registered with the Bhutan App can take part in the draw.

And the third lucky draw, aimed to showcase the inclusivity of the celebrations, is for Bhutanese residing abroad.

BBS talked to a few people and asked them to guess what the prizes this year could be.

“We participated in the lucky draw last year too, but we were unlucky. There were various prizes last year like vehicles and power tillers. I will participate this year too and would be happy if I could win a prize. It does not matter what prize I win, I will be happy if I win one,” said Phuntsho Norbu, a resident of  Chamkhar Town, Bumthang.

“There is a National Day lucky draw every year and this year, I hope there are prizes that benefit the citizens like livestock and power tillers,” said Sonam Tobgay, a resident of Shumar Gewog, Pema Gatshel.

“I have heard that fortunate people had won prizes in the past from the lucky draw but I never got one. I heard that the prizes before were vehicles. There were many different prizes given to the people and there might be diverse prizes this time too,” said Ngawang Dorji, a resident of Thimphu Thromde.

“We cannot say what the prizes will be for the lucky draw at the National Day. It might be some livestock animals, some cash prizes, or a vehicle like in past years. It will depend on our luck to receive the prizes,” said Dorji, a resident of Phuentshogling Town, Chhukha.

“For the lucky draw this national day, most people expect the prize to be an iPhone. But in villages, since people are dependent on farming activities, cattle would be the ideal prize,” said Dorji Wangdi, a resident of Damphu Town, Tsirang.

“People who won the lucky draw in the past received items like a phone, a vehicle, a cattle and more. There might be different types of prizes this year. I would be happy if I win the lucky draw,” said Choening, a resident of Udzorong Gewog, Trashigang.

As for the prizes, those coming to the Changlimithang can win an electric scooter, a power tiller or even a pickup truck.

The prizes in the second category are also exciting and vary from trucks to mobile phones as well as free air tickets.

The third lucky draw which is for Bhutanese residing abroad, offers free air tickets as well as traditional silk brocade attires and other gift hampers.

The prizes for the National Day Lucky Draw this time amount to a total of more than NU 4 M.
