Her Majesty Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck Honoured with Doctorate for Youth Development Work

In a moment of international recognition for Bhutan’s commitment to youth empowerment, Her Majesty Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, President of the Bhutan Youth Development Fund (YDF), was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. The prestigious degree, awarded on February 9, 2025, celebrates Her Majesty’s tireless efforts in fostering youth development and social progress in Bhutan.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, Vice President of YDF, alongside Princess Kezang Chodren Wangchuck and Prince Ugyen Jigme Wangchuck. Also in attendance were senior officials from YDF and representatives from the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Canberra, underscoring the significance of the occasion for both Bhutan and the international academic community.

Established in 1999, the Bhutan Youth Development Fund has been a cornerstone of youth empowerment in the country, pioneering initiatives that provide education, leadership training, and rehabilitation programs. For over 25 years, YDF has played a crucial role in shaping Bhutan’s future by equipping young people with skills and opportunities to thrive.
