His Majesty in Australia

In a landmark event fostering international friendship and cultural exchange, His Majesty The King in Sydney on the morning of October 10 aboard a specially chartered Drukair flight. Accompanying him on this significant journey were Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, and Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, and Gyalsem Sonam Yangden Wangchuck, underscoring the royal family’s commitment to strengthening ties between Bhutan and Australia.

Upon landing, His Majesty received a warm welcome from the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn, AC. The dignitaries gathered at Admiralty House, the official residence of the Governor-General in Sydney, marking a ceremonious start to the King’s visit.

The highlight of His Majesty’s itinerary is the inaugural audience scheduled for today, which aims to connect with the Bhutanese diaspora residing in Sydney and its surrounding regions. In a gesture of spiritual solidarity, members of the Dorji Lopen and the Zhung Dratshang have transported sacred nangtens from Bhutan to Australia. During the Royal Audience, attendees will have the unique opportunity to receive blessings from these revered religious texts, symbolizing the enduring heritage and faith of the Bhutanese people.
