Twelve personnel from the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) are undergoing specialised training in CCTV and modern security systems in Kochi, India, as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening the force’s technical and operational capabilities.
The 10-day programme is being conducted at IPCS Global and is funded by the Government of India under its Project Tied Assistance (PTA).
The training provides participants with practical and technical exposure to a range of contemporary security technologies. Key areas include the installation and configuration of CCTV systems, CCTV networking, intruder alarm systems and access control systems. Participants are also being trained in fire alarm technologies, covering both addressable and non-addressable systems.
With technology playing an increasingly important role in policing and public safety, the programme is expected to enhance the ability of RBP personnel to operate and manage modern surveillance and security infrastructure. The skills acquired during the training will support more effective deployment of such systems and contribute to the broader objective of smarter, technology-enabled policing in Bhutan.
The programme also forms part of continuing cooperation between Bhutan and India in capacity building and professional development. India has supported a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing institutional and technical capabilities in Bhutan through bilateral development cooperation.
The Royal Bhutan Police expressed its appreciation to the Government of India for supporting the programme and for its continued assistance in strengthening the professional capabilities of RBP personnel.
The specialised training is expected to equip the participating personnel with knowledge that can be applied in their operational roles upon their return to Bhutan, further strengthening the use of modern security technologies in ensuring safer communities.
