Gujarat is playing host to an esteemed delegation this week as King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan embark on a three-day official visit to the state. The royal and government leaders arrived in Gujarat on July 22, greeted warmly by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The visit commenced with a grand welcome dinner held in the state capital. During the event, which saw the presence of prominent state figures including Minister of State for Protocol Jagdish Vishwakarma and Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, discussions focused on enhancing trade and cultural relations between Bhutan and Gujarat.
In a gesture of goodwill, Chief Minister Patel presented King Wangchuck with a replica of the celebrated Rogan art from Kutch and a traditional Bhujodi shawl. These gifts highlight Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage and the state’s commitment to fostering international ties.
The delegation’s itinerary included a visit to the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, further symbolizing the bonds between the two regions. The monument, a tribute to the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, provided an evocative backdrop to the visit.
The ongoing discussions and engagements during this visit underscore the commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral relationships, with a particular emphasis on trade and cultural exchange. The visit represents a significant step in enhancing the partnership between Bhutan and Gujarat, setting a positive tone for future collaborations.
