The Bhutan India Friendship Association (BIFA) has voiced strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of several innocent Indian tourists. In a powerful message of solidarity, the association reaffirmed Bhutan’s unwavering support for peace and its close ties with India.
Addressing reporters in Kokrajhar, BIFA Secretary General Dawa Penjor expressed profound grief over the incident, calling it a “brutal and senseless act” that has deeply saddened the people of Bhutan.
“India is the land of non-violence, as taught by Mahatma Gandhi. Such acts of terrorism are an affront to humanity and have no place in any society,” Penjor stated, echoing the principles of peace and non-violence that underpin India’s legacy.
On behalf of the people and government of Bhutan, Penjor extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He also condemned the suspected involvement of Pakistan-based terrorist groups in the attack, emphasizing Bhutan’s strong opposition to terrorism in all forms.
“As Bhutanese citizens, we cannot accept such brutality against innocent civilians,” he said. “Bhutan stands for peace, harmony, and hopes for a world where violence has no place.”
Penjor also highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Bhutan and India, underscoring the shared values and mutual respect that bind the two nations. He reiterated BIFA’s commitment to fostering peace and strengthening bilateral ties, especially in times of tragedy.
The message from Bhutan comes as a significant gesture of unity and compassion, reinforcing the enduring partnership between the Himalayan kingdom and its neighbor.
