The ChoeGo Building, one of the signature developments in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), will soon become home to the city’s first premium boutique hotel, marking a major milestone in the expansion of its hospitality sector.
The Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMCA) and BTCL Private Limited signed a hospitality development agreement yesterday, paving the way for ChoeGo Boutique to open its doors in November. The project is the first hospitality partnership formalised by the GMC Authority.
The 27-room boutique hotel will occupy the second and third floors of the ChoeGo Building, a mixed-use landmark designed to bring together business, hospitality, lifestyle and commercial services under one roof. More than 15 flagship enterprises are expected to operate from the building once it is fully developed.
BTCL Private Limited, one of Bhutan’s leading hospitality operators, will manage the hotel. The company currently oversees more than 300 hotel rooms across the country, along with a network of restaurants and cafés in key tourism destinations.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, BTCL Managing Director Thinley Wangchuk Dorji said the company was honoured to be entrusted with the landmark project.
“We are proud to be selected as the first premium hotel to operate in ChoeGo GMC. We remain committed to His Majesty’s transformative vision for Gelephu Mindfulness City and will dedicate ourselves fully to delivering a world-class hospitality experience.”
For the GMC Authority, the partnership is seen as a significant step in establishing the quality and identity of the emerging city.
Rabsel Dorji, Managing Director of the Tourism Development Group under GMCA, said the ChoeGo Building is intended to reflect the standards that will define Gelephu Mindfulness City.
“ChoeGo is an important showcase for GMC. The expectations we have for this building will now be carried forward through BTCL’s management of the premium boutique hotel.”
Scheduled to begin operations in November, ChoeGo Boutique is expected to become one of the earliest premium accommodation options in Gelephu Mindfulness City, strengthening the city’s appeal as a destination for visitors, businesses and investors while supporting its vision of high-quality urban development.
