RTC Women FC Dominates in National League with Unprecedented Victory

In a stunning display of dominance, RTC Women FC delivered a resounding 32-0 victory over Royal Academy FC in their latest BoB Bhutan National Women’s League match. The overwhelming win, characterized by a goal almost every three minutes, highlighted the stark contrast between the two teams.

The lopsided encounter saw RTC Women FC leading 18-0 at halftime, demonstrating their superiority throughout the game. Royal Academy FC, which fielded a team of younger, less experienced players, struggled to keep pace with their well-established opponents.

Royal Academy FC’s coach, Tshering Pelden, admitted that the defeat was somewhat surprising but acknowledged the current limitations of her team. “Our team is still very young and lacks the experience needed to compete at this level,” Pelden said. She attributed the lack of seasoned players to the departure of key squad members due to board exams. “I had a strong team last year, but many of our top players had to leave.”

Despite the heavy loss, Pelden remained optimistic about her team’s future, emphasizing that their main goal was to participate in the league, gain valuable experience, and improve their skills for future competitions. She also praised RTC Women FC, noting that they are a formidable team that poses a challenge to any opponent.

The BoB Bhutan National Women’s League has been marked by significant disparities in team performance. Among the six teams participating this year, RTC Women FC, Transport United Ladies, BFF Academy, and Ugyen Academy Women’s FC are recognized as the more competitive sides. In contrast, Highlander Girls FC and Royal Academy FC are considered newcomers with less experienced rosters.

Phuntsho Wangdi, the Bhutan Football Federation’s (BFF) media and marketing head, acknowledged the challenges faced in the women’s football sector. “There are not many women’s teams that participate in football competitions, and finding qualified teams is often difficult,” Wangdi noted. He highlighted that the presence of national players in RTC FC and Ugyen Academy FC significantly contributes to their success.

In the qualifiers held in May, the dominance of several top teams was evident. Transport United Ladies defeated Panchali FC with a staggering 33-0 scoreline, while BFF Academy secured a 26-0 victory over the same opponents. Ugyen Academy also showcased their prowess by thrashing Phuentsholing Heroes FC 29-0.

As the league progresses, the performances of these top teams continue to set high standards, leaving the less experienced squads with much to aspire to in future tournaments.
